Here we go. Monday September 22, Safefunds.com moves to our new headquarters location. At the same time we are relocating our primary data center. We're excited about our new facilities. Imagine our embarrassment when our email provider, Network Solutions, one of the largest and one of the first Internet registrars and hosting services, lost our ability to receive email on April 7th. Apparently, the claim of 99.7% up time is not quite realistic. Of course this interruption had no effect on the secure Safefunds member server. We do not trust anyone except ourselves with that information. However, we certainly apologize to our many members for the inconvenience and what may have appeared to be our failure to respond to their mail to us. What's the Catch?

A perfect topic for April 1 is a question we get over and over at Safefunds. What's the catch? How can you provide the Safefunds service for such low cost? All the other services are a lot higher and get from 1% to 3%. Are you guys for real? We hear it a lot. Here is the answer. Our business is based on our software. Our software processes a transaction for a fixed amount. The value of the transaction has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of processing it (of course, this is also true of our competitors who charge those percentages). When you write a check, you do not expect to pay the bank a percentage of the amount for handling the clearing process. Why should you pay a percentage of a transaction for someone to process it? We depend on three elements for success: 1. The best possible service to our members so they continue to use our system, 2. Our patent pending software that cannot be duplicated, and 3. The political season has found a home at Safefunds. One of our members in the hotel business had an unfortunate experience four years ago that did not happen again now that Safefunds is available. It seems that a major news organization booked half of his hotel during primary season for two weeks in 2004. After the primary was over and they moved on, it took our member 6 months to get paid from the "corporate" office. Not this year. Our wise member insisted that funds be committed using Safefunds in advance. When the bill was totaled, the Safefunds transaction was adjusted to the proper amount. Our hotel operator member received his funds instantly, the news organization member had instant access to withdraw the remainder. Another "newsworthy" use for Safefunds.

If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, we should be flattered - but we're not. A new scam site appeared on February 13, using our name as part of their web site address. It looks good until you pay close attention and find out about the broken links and the false claims about ownership and investors. While claiming to be a U.S. based firm, the site is registered in Australia with phony addresses in the U.S. and Canada. It's a typical Moneygram scam , telling buyers to send personal Moneygrams to their authorized escrow agent. We are working with law enforcement in Australia to stop this fraud. Safefunds stopped a car sale fraud again this weekend. The scam was an old one. The story is, "the car is in the U.S.; the seller is in the U.K. and is willing to sell for cheap just to get the car sold. The seller has an escrow agent that will receive a MoneyGram from the buyer and independently verify release of the car". It is amazing that this scam is still out there.
